The first nights of W. Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” directed by the Artistic Director of the Alexandrinsky Theater Valery Fokin will take place on April 16,17,18, and 23 of 2010.
The new stage version of Hamlet’s story is based on both poetical and prosaic translations of the great Shakespeare’s tragedy. Dramatist Vadim Levanov created a special dramatic adaptation of the story, accenting aspects of modern and actualized comprehension of its collisions. Identification of acute internal experiences of a person doomed to live in the false and hypocritical atmosphere, where egoistic interests and criminally ambitious aggressiveness are hiding themselves behind the glossy façade of the life. Hamlet’s tragedy is the tragedy of a person who dared to rebel on his own against lies and crimes, but was adsorbed with the banality, non-spirituality and betrayal of people around him. Alexandr Borovsky, Valery Fokin’s traditional co-author, created the scenic layout of the performance, and composer Alexander Bakshi wrote the music. Dmitry Lysenkov, a top young actor of the Alexandrinsky Theater, played the role of Hamlet. The following actors are engaged in the performance: People’s Artist of Russia Victor Smirnov, People’s Artist of Russia Marina Ignatova, People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Lisetsky, Yanina Lakoba, Andrey Shimko, Distinguished Artist of Russia Igor Volkov and others.
